The Definitive History of Caludon Castle

John Clarke OBE was born in Wyken and spent much of his childhood in Caludon Park. John has been fascinated by the history of Caludon Castle since then and has devoted considerable resources to a 5 year historical research project with the help of historian Stephen Johnson and Coventry Conservation Officer George Demidowicz. Their long journey has taken the research team into many historical archives including that of the Berkeley family (one of the most important families to own Caludon Castle) as well as a physical site survey to determine what the architecture of the castle itself may have looked like.

The resulting work emerging from the reasearch project is the long awaited The Lords of Caludon, the first ever book on the history of Caludon Castle and it's aristocratic inhabitants. The book promises to be the definitive and authoritative history of the site, its amazing rise and eventual ruin.

The Lords of Caludon book will be available for purchase from this website once it has been published. In the meantime Stephen Johnson will be creating a range of historical materials available exclusively from this website to promote the rich and exciting history of the area.
